Financial Exploitation

The Oregon Department of Human Services has a program to combat financial exploitation of seniors and other vulnerable adults. One element of the program is a joint venture with the Oregon Bankers Association to educate bank employees about how to recognize and report possible financial exploitation. The second element is a project to educate seniors and others about how to avoid telemarketing and other scams. Volunteers are essential to the success of the program.

For more information review the definitions and warning signs of financial exploitation and the Oregon Senior Financial Abuse Coalition Booklet: English, Russian, Spanish.

If you believe someone is being subjected to consumer fraud or financial exploitation, contact the Financial Fraud Section, Department of Justice in Salem at 503-378-4732.
